About Heather

Heather, a native of Scotland, has been involved with ponies and horses from a young age like Ben. An interest in racing developed around the age of 11. When she turned 13 she started working for local Scottish trainer Jim Goldie, spending weekends and school summer holidays at his Uplawmoor stable. At 16, after attending the British Racing School, Heather was apprenticed to Newmarket training legend Luca Cumani and rode for several years as a jockey in the UK.

An urge to travel could no longer be ignored and Heather spent her early 20’s riding racehorses in Italy, America and Japan before returning to Newmarket to work for John Gosden. She rode for him in the morning while working full time as a Veterinary Technician at Rossdales Equine Hospital, Europe’s largest Equine hospital.

Heather made the move to Australia in 2016. She met Ben, then Senior Foreman, while working for Lindsay Park in Euroa as part of their veterinary nursing team in their vet department.

Ben and Heather were engaged in 2018 while snowboarding on Mt Buller. Their two twin boys, James and Brodie, were born in 2020.

When Ben took out his training license, Heather naturally fell into the roll of managing the business side of training. She is currently CFO at Brisbourne Racing and farm manager at the family’s Nesscliff Estate.

Ben and Heather are a fantastic team, combining lifetimes of experience from around the world and using that to grow and develop their own training programs to cement their place in the Australian horse race training ranks. They continue to build their own path to the top.
